100,000 children from Romania will learn the alphabet of selective waste collection

Eco-Rom Ambalaje is launching a national programme to support environmental education on selective waste collection. The programme consists in the distribution of the educational kit "We learn to recycle package" in the schools from the localities where selective waste collection activities are organised.

In 2009, the handbook "We learn to recycle package" reached 28 localities across the country, as well as districts 3 and 6 of Bucharest. The localities where the programme will be implemented are among the 70 towns which have appropriate selective collection infrastructure and whose number will be further expanded in 2010.

Started as a pilot project in 2008, the environmental education programme developed by Eco-Rom Ambalaje was initially implemented in 4 towns, covering 2,200 pupils and 39 schools. The very good results led to the further expansion of the programme at the national level. The handbook is accessible to a number of about 100,000 pupils in the third grade.
The children from Focsani became "eco agents" after receiving the handbook "We learn to recycle package!" Educational projects

The handbook was launched in "Stefan cel Mare" school from Focsani, with the support of Mrs. Elena Lemnaru, the school principal who named the 3rd graders from her school "eco agents" and gave them the authority to report any irregularity regarding waste disposal found in the school.

The pupils received from Eco-Rom Ambalaje special bins for selective waste collection, which were located on the school hallways.

The launch of the waste recycling handbook took place in the presence of Mr. Decebal Bacinschi - the mayor of Focsani, Mr. Iordache Bostan - General School Inspector, Mrs. Rodica Bongeag – representative of the Environmental Protection Agency, Mr. Viorel Profiroiu – representative of the public utility company, and Eco Rom Ambalaje – which offered 740 free handbooks to the 3rd grade pupils, and 32 guides for the teachers.

BasketPet School Cup!

Basketballs have been replaced with PET bottles. 20 schools from Iasi, Slatina, Bacau, Tulcea, Petrosani, Cluj, Braila and Constanta competed in PET throwing to the basket. The Press Monitoring Agency, in partnership with Eco Rom Ambalaje, developed a campaign aimed at mobilising high school students, with a view to encouraging the selective collection of households waste, in particular plastic and paper. Dozens of pupils strove to score points by throwing the packages into the basket hoop and into the coloured selective collection bins. The participants received gifts made of recyclable materials, and the winners got (real!) basket ball sets.

We buy, we recycle - we protect the environment

River Plaza Mall in partnership with Eco-Rom Ambalaje organised "Recycling Day" for the children in Rm Valcea. Under the slogan "Join the game! Collect packaging waste selectively!", 100 children came to the mall with their parents to find out more about packages and their role in protecting the products we buy every day, but also about package recycling.

Cumparam, reciclam - mediul il protejam Cumparam, reciclam - mediul il protejam While waiting for the holiday gifts, the children learnt how they can protect the environment by separately collecting packages and disposing them in the coloured containers located in the town.
